Sandy Godsey, J.D.
Chief Intellectual Property Counsel
Sandy brings more than 20 years of experience to RAYSPAN. Prior to joining RAYSPAN's executive team, she served as Associate General Counsel and Director of Amazon.com Intellectual Property. Prior to Amazon, Sandy served as a patent counsel at Qualcomm and an engineer at Motorola.
In her extensive experience as an IP counsel Sandy has been responsible for implementing IP policies and procedures as well as providing litigation and licensing support for IP-related matters. Sandy has emphasized developing close and good working strategies with business groups, understanding their needs and incorporating these groups into IP development and defense. She has been involved in setting up patent review boards, landscaping portfolios, and establishing open source policies and practices. Her career includes extensive work with Europe and Asia, including several years working in Japan.
As the leader of the RAYSPAN Intellectual Property Group, Sandy's responsibilities include identifying, securing, and enforcing company intellectual property as well as developing an IP roadmap and strategies that support RAYSPAN's overall business goals.
Sandy received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering, with a minor in Japanese language, from Drexel University in Philadelphia, where her research focused on neural network solutions to power load flow analysis. She holds a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, TX.
