Ajay Gummalla, Ph.D.
Vice President of Applied Research
Ajay brings more than 12 years of communication industry experience to RAYSPAN as its Vice President of Applied Research. Previously, Ajay was a Principle Member of Technical Staff at San Diego Research Center where he led the research, design, development and successful demonstration of Mobile-to-Mobile MIMO technology for DARPA. Prior to that he served at Broadcom Corporation, where he made significant contributions to standardization of Passive Optical Network (PON) technology within the IEEE 802.3ah Ethernet in the First Mile study group. He was a key contributor in the development of "Propane" technology at Digital Furnace (acquired by Broadcom in 2000).
Ajay received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2000 and Bachelors of Technology from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in 1996. He has authored numerous journal and conference papers and holds 8 patents and is a co-inventor on over 50 patent applications.
